About the Event
AIP is organising a high-level online dialogue in February bringing together women leaders, young women peacebuilders, researchers, civil society actors, and international partners to reflect on the evolving security situation in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, following the recent December peace agreements and Minerals Cooperation between the US government DRC and Rwanda.
This timely conversation will move beyond headlines to examine:
how the agreements are affecting communities on the ground, particularly in and around Goma,
what trends are emerging from similar peace processes,
and what concrete actions are needed now to strengthen peace, accountability, and civilian protection.
A central focus of the discussion will be the leadership, experience, and solutions proposed by women and young women, whose voices remain underrepresented in formal peace and security processes despite being at the forefront of community resilience and conflict prevention.
